Complaint made to Independent Press Standards Organisation

The article states that Mr Paul Rimmer is an English Democrat party member, this is incorrect. His membership lapsed last year and since the 2014 EU Elections he has actively been supporting and promoting UKIP, a party he previously stood for. The English Democrats North West Chairman posted a reply on the comments section of the website which prompted the Liverpool Echo Editor, Neil Docking , to contact him and the inacuracies were explained.

Since that conversation between our NW Chairman and the Editor the comments section has since been removed from the site and the inaccurate article left up.

Mr Paul Rimmer is not a member of the English Democrats, Mr Rimmer was approached by Paul Nuttall MEP at the 2011 Oldham and Saddleworth by-election to stand for UKIP for which he did in the same year, UKIP then kicked him out on the grounds he is former BNP, an item they knew about when recruiting him. It was a publicity stunt so UKIP could say they don't tolerate former BNP members even though a previous election agent of Mr Farage was a former National Front member His English Democrat membership lapsed last year and since the 2014 EU Elections he has been actively supporting and promoting UKIP, a party he previously stood for.
